AvtoVAZ may start making new cars in Izhevsk in 2024

ST. PETERSBURG, Jul 27 (PRIME) -- Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ plans to start production of new cars at its plant in Izhevsk together with an Eastern partner in 2024, CEO Maxim Sokolov told PRIME on Thursday on the sidelines of the Russia–Africa summit.

When asked about a launch of production of new cars in Izhevsk, he said, “It will more likely happen in the middle of next year.”

“(It will be done together) with an Eastern partner,” he said, adding that AvtoVAZ is in negotiations with several companies now.
